Project overview
The legacy Academy4Tech page records a custom ESP32 core schematic and notes a working auto-reset arrangement using a CH340 USB-to-serial device. It describes the CH340G arrangement as similar to the CH340C implementation.
Why ESP32
ESP32 devices combine a microcontroller with integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Their connectivity, low-power modes and peripheral interfaces make them useful for connected sensors, automation and embedded control.
The family includes different processor variants and capabilities. Always select the exact module first and design against its current datasheet; pins, flash configuration and power requirements vary.
Schematic review checklist
- Confirm the exact ESP32 module and USB-to-serial part number.
- Verify 3.3 V regulator capacity and decoupling.
- Follow the module vendor’s enable, boot and strapping-pin guidance.
- Check auto-reset timing between the USB interface and the ESP32 enable/boot pins.
- Keep antenna clearance free of copper and components.
- Add accessible programming and recovery points.
