Essential Ten privacy policy.

Privacy details for ten local-first Android utilities from Academy4Tech, including their device access, local storage, sharing and advertising.

This policy is provided by Academy4Tech and covers the following Android utilities: GPS Scope, CoordCraft, Sensor Lab, Safe Signal, Level Mate, Sound Guard, Charge Wise, Net Pulse, Focus Spark, and Vault Note. Together, they are referred to below as the Essential Ten apps or the Apps.

At a glance

  • The Apps do not require an Academy4Tech account or use a developer-operated cloud service.
  • Core device readings and saved content are processed locally on the user’s device.
  • Most readings are temporary and exist only while the relevant feature is active.
  • Focus Spark stores timer preferences and a completed-session count locally.
  • Vault Note encrypts notes locally and disables Android backup.
  • The Apps use Google Mobile Ads to display advertising and Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage applicable privacy choices.
  • Information is shared with another app or service only when the user deliberately selects a destination through Android’s system share sheet. The destination then applies its own privacy policy.

1. App-specific data use

App Information used and purpose
GPS Scope Uses location while the feature is active to display the requested live result.
CoordCraft Uses location while the feature is active to display or compose the requested coordinate result.
Sensor Lab Processes supported device-sensor readings in memory to render measurements.
Safe Signal Uses location while the feature is active to compose the requested result.
Level Mate Processes device-sensor readings in memory to render level measurements.
Sound Guard Analyzes microphone samples in memory to produce a relative signal meter. Audio is not recorded to a file or sent to Academy4Tech.
Charge Wise Reads Android battery status locally to show the requested information.
Net Pulse Displays network properties locally. It makes a TCP connection to a host entered by the user only after the user starts the test. The selected host operates under its own privacy and logging practices.
Focus Spark Stores timer preferences and the completed-session count in the App’s private local storage.
Vault Note Encrypts notes with AES-GCM using a key protected by Android Keystore, then stores them in the App’s private local storage. Android backup is disabled for this App.

Academy4Tech does not receive these core readings, preferences, counters, or notes through a developer-operated backend.

2. Permissions and device access

Permissions are requested only when a feature needs them. Depending on the App and feature, these can include:

  • precise or approximate location for location-based results;
  • microphone access for Sound Guard’s in-memory relative signal meter;
  • camera or flashlight access for a feature that controls the device light;
  • vibration for supported alerts or feedback; and
  • internet and network access for advertising, consent services, and Net Pulse tests deliberately started by the user.

Users can deny or withdraw a permission through Android Settings. A feature that depends on that permission may then be unavailable or provide reduced functionality.

3. Advertising and privacy choices

The Apps use the Google Mobile Ads SDK to request and display an adaptive banner. Google states that the SDK can automatically collect and share information such as IP address, product interactions, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers for advertising, analytics, fraud prevention, security, and compliance. Google states that Mobile Ads SDK data is encrypted in transit using TLS.

The Apps use Google’s User Messaging Platform to request applicable consent before ads are requested. Where available or required, an in-app privacy entry point allows users to revisit their choices. The choices and form presented can depend on the user’s region, device, prior selections, and Academy4Tech’s Google advertising configuration.

The banner can be hidden after 30 seconds for the current App launch. Hiding it stops further banner requests for that launch, but it is not a permanent advertising opt-out and does not change consent or device-level advertising settings. The banner can return after the App is launched again.

Core readings and locally saved App content are not deliberately added by Academy4Tech to an advertising request. Google processes advertising and consent information under its own terms and policies. Learn more in Google’s partner-sites policy and Privacy Policy.

4. Sharing initiated by the user

When a sharing feature is used, the App passes the visible information selected by the user to Android’s system share sheet. Academy4Tech does not choose the destination or receive the shared content unless the user deliberately selects an Academy4Tech-controlled destination.

The selected app or service processes the shared information under its own privacy policy. Users should review information before sharing it and avoid sending sensitive content to an untrusted destination.

5. Retention and deletion

Most device readings are transient and are not retained by the Apps. Focus Spark preferences and completed-session count remain in private local storage until changed, App data is cleared, or the App is uninstalled. Vault Note content remains encrypted in private local storage until the user deletes it, clears App data, or uninstalls the App. Android backup is disabled for Vault Note.

Android may retain ordinary App preferences until App data is cleared. Users can delete local App data through Android Settings > Apps > [App name] > Storage > Clear storage, or by uninstalling the relevant App.

Because Academy4Tech does not operate an account or cloud-storage service for the Apps, it has no server copy of the core local data to delete. Google and any user-selected share destination apply their own retention and deletion practices to information they process.

6. Security

Local App information is protected by Android’s application sandbox. Vault Note also encrypts notes using AES-GCM with a key protected by Android Keystore and disables Android backup. Google states that Mobile Ads SDK transmissions are protected in transit with TLS.

No storage or transmission method is completely secure. A rooted, compromised, debug-enabled, or physically accessible device can weaken Android’s protections. Users are responsible for the services and destinations they choose when running a network test or sharing information.

7. Children

The Apps are general-audience utilities and are not designed for children under 13. Academy4Tech does not knowingly collect first-party personal information from children through an account or developer-operated backend for these Apps.

Parents or guardians with a concern can contact Academy4Tech using the details below.

8. Changes to this policy

Academy4Tech may update this policy when an App’s features, permissions, service providers, data practices, or legal requirements change. The published policy will display its effective date.
